A switch places the EQ before or after the effect.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eTwo modes per cartridge:\u003c\/strong\u003e an A\/B selector changes what the cartridge does, alongside its X and Y controls.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eOpen cartridge specification:\u003c\/strong\u003e the kit page lists a breadboard and documentation for designing your own cartridge.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe signal runs from the audio input through the cartridge and the EQ, then the processed signal is blended with the dry signal at the output. The X and Y knobs each have a CV attenuator and input, and their function depends on the loaded cartridge. A peak meter shows green for output signal and red for clipping. Each EQ knob does nothing at 12 o'clock, boosts clockwise and cuts anticlockwise, so an LFO into the EQ inputs can sweep bands in and out.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBefaco and partner makers have released cartridges covering wavefolding, ring modulation and downsampling, fuzz, comb filtering, delay and granular processing, phasing and distortion. Cartridges can be hot-swapped, though a small pop or glitch may occur depending on the cartridge design.
