Befaco describes it as a pre-soldered DIY kit and marks it as beginner grade. It suits patchers who want a compact sound source that can also run as an LFO and who are comfortable finishing a kit build.

Thru-zero FM: pitch responds to both positive and negative voltage. When FM pushes below zero, the core keeps oscillating with inverted phase, which gives timbres a standard VCO cannot produce.

Wavefolder: the Timbre control sets how hard the waveform is folded and has its own CV input.

Built-in VCA: patch an envelope or LFO into the VCA input to shape level without an external VCA.

Selectable waveforms: sine, triangle, sawtooth and square, plus PWM and sync.

Four range modes: Full, Octave, Semitone and LFO, with a separate octave selector.

The oscillator core uses a Sound Semiconductor IC, which Befaco credits for the module's stability and tuning. The combination of thru-zero FM, folding and an onboard VCA means one Pony can work as a complete voice, while LFO mode makes it useful as a modulation source in small cases. At 30 mm deep including the power connector, it also fits shallow skiff cases. The front panel is heat-treated aluminium.
