The Klavis ComPair is a 3HP Eurorack voltage comparator with two sections, A and B. They can run as two separate threshold comparators or work together as one window comparator. It is useful for turning audio, LFOs and other signals into gates and triggers, reshaping waveforms, or building patches that respond to signal level.
-
Two comparator sections that work independently or combine into a window comparator, since input B is normalled to input A
-
Bipolar Hi and Lo threshold knobs covering -10V to +10V, with 0V at the centre
-
Hi input summed with the Hi knob, for signal-against-signal comparison on section A or a CV-controlled upper limit in window mode
-
Three outputs (Hi, Lo and =), each with a 3-position switch for inverted, muted or normal operation, plus LEDs showing the actual output state
-
Passive-low outputs that can be ORed by patching several into a multiple
The Hi output goes high when A is above the Hi setting, and the Lo output goes high when B is below the Lo setting. The = output is high while the signal sits between the two thresholds. Invert it and it fires when the signal leaves the window. Outside window mode, = goes active when neither section's output is active.
Usage modes include dual threshold comparison, window comparison, voltage-to-voltage comparison and comparison across three signals. The ComPair works from DC to beyond audio rate, so it handles slow modulation as well as audio-rate material. The outputs share the passive-low ORing behaviour found on Klavis's Logica XT and Two Bits.
At 3HP with a shallow depth, it suits skiff cases. It is available with a silver or a black aluminium panel.
