The Klavis Mixwitch is an 8HP Eurorack module that combines a mixer and a switcher. It is for modular users who want one compact module for audio mixing, CV mixing, offsets, polarity inversion and signal switching, especially in live setups where finding the zero point on an attenuverter is awkward.
-
Two 2-to-1 mixers normalled into a single 4-to-1 mixer
-
Click-free polarity inversion on every input, with an LED showing its state
-
Click-free mute on each mixer
-
Lin/log switch per mixer to suit modulation or audio, with a mode LED
-
Switch/selector stepped by clock or trigger, set to random, or driven by CV, at audio rate
-
Settings recall: the module keeps its settings when the power is turned off
Instead of a centre-detent attenuverter, each input has a button that flips polarity, so zero level is simply the pot turned fully down. Two LEDs on each output show amplitude and polarity. Unconnected inputs give a fixed voltage, so the pots can also be used to create offsets. The analog signal path is full range and DC-coupled, so it handles both audio and control voltages.
The switch section can cycle through all four inputs, only two, or be turned off. Because both clock and CV control run at audio rate, the Mixwitch goes well beyond basic routing. Klavis's manual describes applications including:
- A 4-step sequencer or randomizer that makes CVs from the four pots
- Sub-octave generation, waveshaping, wave-stitching and saw-to-PWM conversion
- Drum randomizing, chance generation, logic functions such as AND, NAND and XOR, and hard clipping
The module is compact and skiff-friendly, with metal-shaft pots. It comes in two panel finishes: silver eloxal-printed aluminium and black bath-anodized brushed aluminium.
