The Befaco Hexpander is an expander for the Befaco Hexmix Eurorack mixer, not a standalone module. It mounts directly above the Hexmix to form a 6U-tall mixer with each channel strip lined up vertically, much like a tabletop console. It suits modular players who run a Hexmix as the centre of a live or performance setup and need sends, monitoring and proper outputs.
-
Three aux sends with stereo returns, with separate send controls on every channel and pre- or post-fader/EQ operation
-
Line or modular level switching on each of the three stereo return inputs
-
Direct outputs: six post-EQ outputs, one for each Hexmix channel strip
-
Monitor section with PFL switches for all channels and a headphone amp
-
Master section with balanced 1/4" left and right line outputs
The Hexpander brings the Hexmix closer to a full live mixer. The aux sends turn the per-channel sends into stereo send and return loops for external or in-rack effects, with high and low gain options so outboard gear and modular processors both fit. The PFL system and headphone output let you check channels and set up cue mixes before bringing them into the main mix, which is useful when playing live or DJing with a modular rig.
The direct outputs let you record each channel separately into a DAW or audio interface while still using the Hexmix for the main stereo mix. The balanced master outputs make it easier to connect the system to a PA or studio console. The front panel is heat-treated aluminium, and the module is designed in Barcelona.
