The Befaco Percall is a 12 HP Eurorack module for turning sound sources into percussion. It combines four VCAs, each with its own decay envelope, with a mixer, so oscillators, noise or other voices in your system can become a small drum submix inside one module.
-
Four VCA channels, each with a dedicated decay envelope
-
CV control of decay time, plus an individual output for every envelope
-
Per-channel volume feeding a normalled mix output
-
Strength input acting on all four channels to add dynamics
-
Choke pairs linking channels 1 and 2, and channels 3 and 4
-
Normalled audio inputs: input 1 to input 2, input 3 to input 4
The choke function lets one channel cut off its partner. Befaco suggests two classic uses: open and closed hi-hats, where the closed hat silences the open one, and a side-chain style effect where a kick ducks a bassline running through the paired channel.
Because inputs are normalled in pairs, one source can drive two channels with different decays, for example a short and a long hit from the same noise source. The separate envelope outputs also make the decay generators useful for modulating other parts of a patch. The Percall is designed in Barcelona and has a heat-treated aluminium front panel.
