The AlphaTheta HDJ-F9 is a closed, on-ear wireless DJ headphone built around SonicLink, AlphaTheta's low-latency wireless link for cueing from compatible DJ gear. It also works over Bluetooth and with a cable, so the same pair covers club and stage sets, practice sessions and everyday listening.
-
SonicLink wireless: latency as low as 9 ms, compared with roughly 200–300 ms for Bluetooth with standard codecs, and a range of about 15 m
-
Tap to connect: touch the headphones to a SonicLink-equipped device such as the DJM-V5 to pair; the separately available HP-TX01 transmitter adds SonicLink to other mixers
-
Multipoint Bluetooth 5.3: switch between devices, with SBC and AAC codecs plus Google Fast Pair and Windows Swift Pair
-
40 mm driver: newly developed, with a PEEK-PU-PEEK composite diaphragm to cut unwanted vibration
-
Battery life: up to about 9 hours on SonicLink and up to about 25 hours on Bluetooth with the status LED off
-
Built for the booth: swivel mechanism, flexible headband, die-cast aluminium slider and a bayonet-locking cable
For monitoring, the internal structure is designed to isolate well for an on-ear model, which lets you cue at lower volume. A bass-reflex air chamber at the top of the housing supports low-end response and helps kicks come through clearly when beatmatching.
The swivelling cups and flexible headband allow one-ear or two-ear monitoring, or wearing the headphones around the neck between tracks. When wired, the cable locks in with a bayonet mount so it does not pull out mid-set. A full charge takes about 2.5 hours, and a 30-minute charge gives around 2.5 hours of SonicLink use. A built-in omnidirectional microphone handles calls over Bluetooth.
AlphaTheta's HEADPHONES CONNECT app, listed by the manufacturer as coming soon, is set to add LED customisation, the option to switch off the status LED and a Find My Headphones feature that shows the headphones' location or makes them play a sound.
