The Befaco ARK Pod is the ARK all-in-one Eurorack instrument in a Pod case for standalone use. ARK was developed by Befaco with Tesseract Modular and combines a 16-track sequencer with synth and drum engines, sampling, CV generation and an internal mixer. It suits players who want one unit at the centre of a modular system, or a self-contained groovebox that also reaches out to other gear over CV and MIDI.
-
16-track sequencer with deterministic, stochastic and Euclidean modes, plus per-step velocity, rolls, legato, slides, repeats and harmony
-
Flexible tracks: each track can run a sound engine, a sampler or a CV/gate generator
-
Drum and synth engines: kick, snare, cymbal, tom, FM percussion and noise, plus acid, FM bells, additive, ladder, super saw, formant, chord and pad voices
-
Sampling: playback, slicing and granular modes, with samples loaded from internal RAM or microSD
-
Connectivity: 8 assignable CV/audio outputs with matching gates, 6 CV inputs, MIDI in and out, clock, reset and USB host
-
Internal mixer with onboard effects and master dynamics
ARK is split into two parts: the Core, which generates all the audio and CV, and the Controller, where you compose. The two can be mounted separately. Harmony tools based on chord progressions and scales help keep tracks in key, and 16 internal modulation sources add movement. Physical modelling voices include a Karplus-Strong pluck and a modal voice based on Elements.
Beyond its own engines, ARK can sequence external modules through its CV and gate outputs and record and generate MIDI across multiple channels. The keys accept Cherry-compatible keycaps. Firmware and the manual are published on Befaco's GitHub.
