The Befaco Bandit is an 8 HP Eurorack module that combines frequency-band filtering, VCAs and routing in one panel, which Befaco describes as a spectral processing playground. This is the DIY kit version of the assembled module, with the parts needed to build a complete Bandit, for patchers who solder their own modules.
-
Four-band EQ under CV control: each frequency band can be boosted or cut by hand or by control voltage.
-
Separate input per band: feed one source into all bands, or send a different signal into each one.
-
Return inputs: insert external effects or processing into individual bands and bring them back into the mix.
-
Level and peak LEDs: visual feedback on signal level while patching.
-
Compact build: 8 HP wide and 30 mm deep including the connector.
Bandit covers several roles in a system. Used on a single source, it works as a voltage-controlled EQ or DJ-style isolator, or as a crossover that splits a sound into four bands for separate processing before they are patched back in. With four different inputs it becomes a spectral mixer, with each signal sitting in its own frequency range.
Because each band acts as a VCA, it also suits more experimental patching. Give every band its own envelope and one source turns into four distinct voices, or modulate the bands with LFOs or audio-rate signals so the timbre changes over time.
