The Befaco Hexmix VCA is a 14 HP Eurorack module with six VCAs that can also act as a compact six-channel mixer. It suits patches that need several voltage-controlled levels in one place, and it is part of Befaco's Hexmix system alongside the Hexmix and Hexpander.
-
Six channels, each with an input, CV input, output, level pot and response-curve pot
-
Variable response per channel, from logarithmic at maximum through linear at centre to exponential at minimum
-
CV normalled to 10 V, so an unpatched channel is fully open and its level pot works as a plain volume control
-
Switchable mix mode that sums all channels to output 6
-
Expander connection for linking every channel directly into the Hexmix system
In normal use the module works as six independent VCAs, each with its own response curve. This lets you match one channel to an envelope for percussive, snappy shapes and set another to linear for smoother amplitude or CV control. The level pot after each VCA sets the output level of that channel.
With mix mode on, the six channels feed output 6 as a submix. Patching a cable into an individual channel output removes that channel from the sum, so you can pull single voices out for separate processing while the rest of the mix stays together. Schneidersladen describes the sound as clean and uncoloured. The front panel is heat-treated aluminium, and the assembled module is 20 mm deep.
