The Befaco Joystick DIY Kit is the self-build version of Befaco's 12 HP Eurorack joystick module. It turns one hand into two channels of control voltage and adds manual gates, making it suited to live, hands-on modulation. The kit requires soldering and is meant for builders with some electronics experience.
-
Arcade-style joystick: a sturdy stick that drives two axes, X and Y, for two-dimensional CV control
-
CV generator or processor: generate voltages directly, or use the stick to attenuate two incoming signals
-
Range and Offset controls: set the limits of the output so even wild movements stay inside the voltage window you choose
-
Attenuverting behaviour: signals can be scaled down as well as inverted
-
Two push buttons: fire gates by hand alongside the joystick movement
-
Complete kit: includes all parts for a finished module, plus a power cable and Befaco Knurlies M3 rack screws
Because Range and Offset define where the output lives, the Joystick works well for gestural moves on filter cutoff, wavefolding, crossfading or panning, with both axes changing together for movements that a single knob cannot produce. The gate buttons let you trigger envelopes or events while your hand stays on the stick.
Befaco provides assembly instructions, a schematic, a parts list and an interactive build guide for the kit, which is designed and prepared in Barcelona. Befaco rates it as a medium-difficulty build. The finished module is 12 HP wide and 35 mm deep including the power connector.
