Overview

The Befaco MEX is a 4 HP Eurorack expander built for Befaco's Muxlicer sequencer. It adds a separate row of gates that follows the Muxlicer's eight steps. It is aimed at Muxlicer owners who want extra rhythmic lines running alongside the main sequence.

  • Extra 8-step gate row that runs in step with the Muxlicer
  • Three modes per step: off, the same number of gates as the Muxlicer, or a single gate
  • Per-step three-position switches for setting patterns by hand
  • Chainable: link several MEX units to build sets of different patterns
  • Powered from the Muxlicer, with a shallow 25 mm depth

Each step's switch sets how that step behaves. A step can stay silent, repeat the ratcheting the Muxlicer applies on that step, or fire a single gate. This lets you take a ratchet-heavy main sequence and pull out a simpler kick or accent line next to it, or a matching sub-pattern, without patching extra logic. With several units chained, each one can carry its own pattern, so one Muxlicer can drive a set of related rhythm parts.

This listing is the factory-assembled module, with a heat-treated aluminium front panel. Befaco designs the module in Barcelona and assembles it there. It also publishes the documentation and design files for MEX.
