The Befaco Morphader is a 12 HP Eurorack performance module for crossfading several CV or audio signals at once. It has four CV-controlled crossfaders and a master fader, so you can move from one set of four signals to another. It suits players who want hands-on morphing between groups of modulation or audio sources, whether live or in generative patches.
-
Four A/B crossfade channels, each with its own output and an attenuator on every input; A/B inputs accept anything between ±10V
-
CV/Audio switch per channel: linear fades that keep CV shapes intact, or an equal-power curve for audio
-
Master crossfade slider that moves all four channels together, with a Fader Lag control from 0 to 15 s
-
Per-channel CV inputs (0–8V), with CV1 normalled to CV2–4 and its own attenuator
-
Output 4 doubles as a mix of all channels, and LEDs show each channel's crossfade position or signal level
All inputs are normalled to 10V, so the Morphader also works as a CV source. With nothing patched, each channel fades between two fixed voltages set by its attenuators. With one input patched, it fades between that signal and a fixed voltage. This makes it useful for setting up two modulation states, for example two filter or wavefolder settings, and sweeping between them with one hand.
The master fader drives every channel unless a cable goes into CV2–4. A cable there takes that channel off the slider for independent control. CV1 is added to the master fader value rather than replacing it, so you can push the whole morph with an LFO or envelope while still playing the slider. Fader Lag slews only the master fader. The fade from A to B follows an exponential curve and the return from B to A a logarithmic one, which gives slow, gliding transitions between scenes.
Output 4 carries a mix of all four channels. Patching any individual output removes that channel from the mix, so the module can act as a crossfading mixer or as four separate crossfaders. The front panel is heat-treated aluminium, and the module is designed and assembled in Barcelona.
