The Befaco Oneiroi is an experimental digital synth voice in Eurorack format, built around ambient pads, drones and evolving textures. It suits players working on hypnotic, slowly shifting music and cinematic sound design who want a complete stereo voice with sources, effects and a looper in one 30 HP panel. This listing is the assembled module.
-
Three oscillators: sine, a stereo supersaw with detune, and a wavetable oscillator that reads from the looper buffer, all tracking a single V/oct input with a unison control
-
5-second stereo looper: records the external input or the module's own output, with sound-on-sound layering and speed variable from 2x reverse to 2x forward
-
Effects chain: multimode filter (low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, comb), 3-band resonator, 2-tap echo and a reverb with a macro control for size, filtering and direction
-
Built-in modulation: several types of self-modulation with configurable routing, level and speed
-
Randomizer: four targets, three intensity levels and undo/redo for exploring new settings
-
Fully stereo signal path: stereo input with selectable gain and a stereo output
Oneiroi works as a self-contained voice as well as a processor for external material. Feed a stereo signal into the input, capture it in the looper, and the wavetable oscillator can then scan that recorded buffer, turning incoming audio into raw material for new tones. The filter can be placed anywhere in the effects chain, and the resonator's tune and feedback controls and the echo's time and density controls shape the stereo image further before the reverb.
Eight short-throw faders set oscillator volumes and effect amounts, and CV with attenuators is available on most parameters, with some CV inputs assignable to secondary parameters. An external sync input locks the time-based functions to a clock, and knob catch behaviour lets you re-couple a knob to its parameter after randomizing or patch changes. The module runs on Rebel Technology's OWL platform, and Befaco publishes the firmware on GitHub along with the user manual and schematic.
