The Befaco Phono Amp is a phono preamp in the 1U Intellijel tile format, supplied here as a full DIY kit for you to assemble. It brings a turntable into a Eurorack system, for DJs running hybrid sets, players who want to use scratch techniques with modular gear, anyone sampling from vinyl, or simply for listening to records through the case.
-
High-gain phono stage with switchable RIAA and LINE input modes
-
MM cartridge support for all kinds of moving magnet cartridges
-
Ground binding post for older turntables that use a separate ground wire
-
RCA inputs on the top of the panel, so they stay easy to reach in a 1U row
-
Compact 12 HP 1U tile with a shallow 34 mm depth and a heat-treated aluminium front panel
The RIAA setting applies the equalisation a turntable signal needs. The LINE setting lets the same input take line-level sources instead. Because it sits in a 1U row, the module keeps vinyl input out of the main 3U area of the case and leaves that space for sound sources and processing.
The kit is designed and prepared by Befaco in Barcelona. Befaco publishes assembly instructions and a user manual for the build. The module is also available ready-built for anyone who would rather not solder.
