The Befaco Pony VCO is a fully analog, thru-zero Eurorack oscillator in 4HP. It includes a wavefolder and its own VCA, and it can also run at LFO rates. It is a compact voice or modulation source for small systems or for racks where space is tight.
-
Thru-zero FM: frequency responds to both positive and negative voltage. When the FM CV goes below zero, the oscillator keeps running with its phase inverted.
-
Timbre control: folds the sine, triangle and sawtooth waves, and sets pulse width on the square wave.
-
Built-in VCA: has its own CV input, so an envelope can be patched straight in to make a complete voice.
-
Four-way range switch: Full, Octave, Semitone and LFO settings, plus an octave selector and a waveform selector.
-
Sync input and a 1V/oct pitch input. The core is based on a Sound Semiconductor IC for stable tuning.
A waveform selector chooses between sine, triangle, sawtooth and square, which all share a single output. The Timbre control and the VCA both take CV, so wavefolding, pulse-width modulation and amplitude can be modulated without extra modules. In LFO mode the Pony works as a compact analog modulation source with the same wave-shaping options. The module has a heat-treated aluminium front panel, is 30 mm deep including the power connector, and is designed and assembled in Barcelona.
