The Befaco VC ADSR is Befaco's take on the classic four-stage envelope generator, built as a compact 8 HP Eurorack module. Its core is a two-transistor current mirror used as a voltage-controlled integrator, combined with switching logic. It suits patchers who want a fully voltage-controlled envelope and extra gate signals to drive other parts of the system.
-
Voltage control on every stage: attack, decay, sustain and release each have their own CV input, plus a fader for manual setting.
-
Per-stage gate outputs: each stage sends a 0–10V gate while it is active, so you can trigger events at specific points in the envelope.
-
Gate and Trigger modes: in Trigger mode, a trigger at the input produces the attack and release portions of the envelope.
-
Adjustable curve: a potentiometer sets the response between stages, from linear to logarithmic/exponential.
-
Manual triggering and stage LEDs: a push button fires the envelope by hand, and LEDs show which stage is running.
Stage times reach up to 10 seconds for attack, decay and release. Attack starts at 3.0ms and decay at 2.8ms, and negative CV pushes these down to 200µs and 400µs for sharper, more percussive shapes. The per-stage gate outputs make the module useful beyond amplitude and filter contours: they can clock sequencers, fire other envelopes or switch logic at the start of decay or the end of release.
The front panel is heat-treated aluminium. Befaco designs the module in Barcelona, where the finished units are assembled. This listing is for the assembled version.
