The Ferrofish VERTOpro MX is a half-19-inch, 1U converter and router that links two MADI streams to a Dante network. It is built for studios, broadcast facilities, live sound rigs and installed systems where MADI equipment has to work with Dante. It also routes audio freely between Dante and both MADI ports. This version ships with two multimode MADI SFP modules.
-
Two MADI SFP ports: use them as two independent streams, as a redundant MADI connection, or to route MADI 1 to MADI 2. In independent mode they handle up to 128 x 128 channels at 48 kHz.
-
Dante with AES67: 64 x 64 channels at 48 kHz over two Gigabit RJ45 ports, with switched and redundant modes.
-
Flexible routing matrix: route between Dante, MADI 1 and MADI 2 in blocks of eight channels or one channel at a time.
-
3-inch IPS colour display: shows level meters, routing, clock and interface status, so the whole unit can be set up from the front panel.
-
Headphone monitoring: listen to any digital input or output signal on a 6.3 mm jack without touching the routing.
-
Presets and remote control: eight device presets and a device lock, plus RemoteFish software for Windows and macOS over USB-MIDI or MIDI.
The unit supports sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz. Channel counts scale down at higher rates. Each SFP can run in 64-channel or 56-channel MADI mode, so it fits both current and older MADI devices.
Each port takes Ferrofish SFP modules, so the connection type can be changed later. Multimode optical modules cover runs of up to 2 km, singlemode optical up to 10 km and coax up to 100 m.
Word clock in and out on BNC, with switchable 75 Ω termination, let the unit join an existing clock setup. Device functions can also be controlled with MIDI CC messages, which helps when the converter is part of an automated system. The USB-C port is for control and firmware updates only and does not carry audio.
