The Ferrofish VERTOpro MXSM is a bidirectional MADI to Dante converter and router in a half-19-inch, 1U case. It is built for studios, broadcast facilities, live sound rigs and fixed installations that need to bring MADI equipment onto a Dante network. As part of the VERTOpro series, it replaces and expands on the discontinued VERTO MX.
-
Two MADI SFP slots: run two independent MADI streams, one redundant MADI connection, or route between MADI 1 and MADI 2
-
High channel count: up to 128 MADI inputs and 128 outputs at up to 48 kHz when both ports are used independently, plus 64x64 Dante channels at 48 kHz
-
Dante with AES67: two Gigabit RJ45 ports (Primary and Secondary) for switched or redundant operation
-
Free routing matrix: patch signals between Dante, MADI 1 and MADI 2 in blocks of 8 channels or one channel at a time
-
Front-panel control: 3-inch IPS colour display with level meters, routing, clock and interface status
-
Headphone monitoring: 6.3 mm output with an ESS ES9023 DAC and four gain settings for 15 to 600 Ω headphones
All setup can be done from the front panel, and the display shows the full device configuration at a glance. Eight presets store complete setups, and a lock function guards against accidental changes during a show or broadcast. The headphone output lets you listen to any digital input or output without touching the routing, which is useful for quick signal checks.
For remote operation, the RemoteFish software for Windows and macOS connects over USB-C (MIDI over USB) or the 3.5 mm TRS MIDI ports, and device functions also respond to MIDI CC messages. USB-C also handles firmware updates; it does not carry audio. Word clock in and out on BNC, with switchable 75 Ω termination, integrates the unit into an existing clock setup. The SFP slots accept Ferrofish multimode optical (up to 2 km), singlemode optical (up to 10 km) and coax (up to 100 m) modules, so the MADI side can be matched to the cabling on site.
