The Frost Giant Electronics Eidolon combines digital delay, reverb and a clean boost in one enclosure. It is aimed mainly at lead guitarists who want a single pedal for solos instead of separate delay, reverb and boost units. It also works for adding ambience and texture to a clean or overdriven tone.
-
Digital delay with clear repeats, adjustable time and feedback, and tap tempo set from the last two taps
-
Reverb that ranges from a short, room-style decay to a large, cavern-like space via the Color control
-
Clean boost of up to 21 dB of flat, IC-based gain, placed after the dry and effect signals are mixed
-
Mod control that adds modulation to the delay repeats
-
Separate level controls for the delay and for how much reverb goes into the effect signal
Because the boost sits at the end of the chain, it lifts the dry and effected signal together. That makes it practical to step on for a solo and keep the delay and reverb balance you have set. The Time knob sets delay time directly, and the Tap switch overrides it when you need to lock repeats to a song's tempo.
The Eidolon was conceived by Dave Davidson, guitarist of Revocation. It was originally sold by Dunable Guitars and designed by John at Electronic Audio Experiments. Frost Giant has now partnered with Davidson to bring it back.
