The Molten Bypass DIY Kit contains all the parts needed to build the Molten Bypass, a 4 HP stereo bypass module for Eurorack developed by Molten Music Technology (Robin Vincent) with Befaco. It gives effects modules the kind of bypass switching guitarists get from pedals. Signals are switched in and out of an effects loop by hand or by gate signals. Documentation includes a user manual, an assembly manual and an interactive parts-list guide.
-
Stereo, DC-coupled path: handles mono or stereo audio, and can also switch modulation or sequences through a loop
-
Hard/Soft bypass: Hard cuts the effect return instantly, while Soft keeps it active so reverb tails and delay repeats fade out naturally
-
Gate/Latch modes: the Push to Launch button either toggles the loop or engages it only while held
-
CV control input: switch the effects loop from gates and triggers
-
FX Gain: sets the return level so the wet signal matches the dry level
The module works as an insert rather than a send. Audio goes out to one or more effect modules, comes back through the return and then on to a mixer or output. When the button is unlit, the signal skips the loop. Wet/dry balance stays on the effect itself. The two channels can also run as two independent mono loops.
Gate patterns can push accents through a distortion, and a trigger every bar can flip between wet and dry. A button press can also drop in an occasional delay or granular texture. With FX Gain turned down, the module acts as a CV-controlled mute or tremolo. Several units can be chained to build loops within loops.
