Confundo Funkidos is a 12HP Eurorack module from Noise Engineering that crossfades and mutes four channels of trigger patterns. It is built for hands-on jamming with drum voices and for anyone who wants to turn static gate sequences into rhythms that shift and fill. It is the second version of the Confundo Funkitus. It fits the same panel width, covers everything the original did, and adds accent outputs and more control over fills.
-
Four channels: each takes a left and a right trigger input and has its own trigger output and accent gate output.
-
Global crossfade: one XFADE slider moves all four channels between their left and right patterns at once, and the XCV input automates it.
-
Three curve modes: with the fader centred, the output is silent, each input has a 50% chance of passing, or both patterns are added together.
-
Accent logic: the ACC switch derives accents from how a channel relates to its neighbour or from both of its inputs firing together.
-
BURN fills: a knob, a button and a CV input scatter triggers across channels and flip accents for fills and breaks.
-
Three-way mutes: each channel can pass triggers and accents, pass triggers only, or be silenced.
The fader is the main performance control. With the CURVE switch you choose what the middle of its travel means. You can fade one rhythm out before the other comes in, let probability pick between the two patterns on each hit, or stack both patterns for a denser groove. Feed the inputs eight patterns or clock divisions and the slider becomes a way to morph a whole four-voice drum part.
BURN covers fills. In the lower half of its range, triggers become more and more likely to jump to other channels' outputs. From the midpoint up, every input trigger reaches every output and accents start to flip, until they flip on every hit at full setting. Holding the button sets BURN to maximum. A slow clock into BURN CV gives fills in time, and an LFO or stepped CV into XCV changes the rhythms over longer stretches.
The accent outputs are high/low gates. They can drive the accent inputs on drum modules or act as modulation sources elsewhere in a patch. Output triggers are fixed at 5 ms whatever the input width, and closely spaced triggers are suppressed to avoid flams. The module comes in black and silver panel versions.
