The Mimetic Digitwolis from Noise Engineering is a four-channel CV step sequencer for Eurorack, designed for improvising and live performance. Sixteen steps sit in a 4x4 grid, and you move through them with triggers along rows, columns, the full sequence or at random. It suits modular players who want a compact sequencer they edit with their hands instead of through menus.
-
Four CV outputs plus trigger out: each channel is edited separately, and the T output fires on every step change.
-
XY navigation: trigger inputs for next step, next in row (X), next in column (Y), random step and return to origin, with matching manual buttons.
-
CV position control: three CV inputs set the step position across all 16 steps, within a row or within a column.
-
Run and Stop modes: record encoder moves live while the sequence runs, or stop on a step to set its value while the module keeps following the clock.
-
Fast pattern editing: Zero, Shred and Undo buttons, plus a one-octave pitch shred for quick melodic variations.
-
16 pattern slots: each stores all four channels, the first eight are reachable with button combinations, and the last saved state reloads at power-up.
Editing is done with a detented encoder: turn it for fine steps, push and turn for coarse changes. The outputs are unquantized 0 to 5 V, so you can use it for pitch through an external quantizer or for modulation. Channel buttons choose which outputs you are editing, and a double tap solos one channel. Holding Origin while turning the encoder shifts the start point of the selected channels, which is a quick way to offset sequences against each other. All jacks sit at the top of the panel, keeping cables clear of the controls while you program.
