The Noise Engineering Nive Grad is a 4HP Eurorack level shifter for stereo or two independent mono channels. It raises guitars, pedals, drum machines and line-level synths to modular level, and lowers Eurorack signals to line or pedal level. It suits anyone who wants their modular system to work alongside external effects, instruments and studio gear.
-
Boost section: one input per channel with fixed +12dB and +24dB outputs, for line-level sources and for guitars and pedals
-
Cut section: one input per channel with fixed -12dB and -24dB outputs, taking Eurorack signals down to line or guitar/pedal level
-
Stereo or dual mono: two identical columns, four inputs and eight outputs in total
-
Guitar-friendly input: 1M input impedance on the boost section works with passive guitar pickups
-
Compact: 3.5mm jacks keep it to 4HP; quarter-inch gear connects through mono/TS adapters or adapter cables
Noise Engineering designed Nive Grad after releasing its Xer Mixa system mixer, when users wanted a simple way to bring other studio gear into that mixer. The two modules pair naturally, but Nive Grad works in any Eurorack case.
A typical patch is a pedal effects loop. Send a modular signal into the cut input, take the -24dB output to a pedal, return the pedal into the boost input and pick up the processed signal at the +24dB output. The second column handles the other side of a stereo pedal, and the ±12dB jacks do the same job for line-level processors. Used this way it works as an aux send and return on a mixer such as Xer Mixa.
Other patches are simple. Plug a guitar into the boost input and use the +24dB out. Run a drum machine or desktop synth through the +12dB out. Send your main patch outputs into the cut section and take line level from the -12dB outs to an interface or mixer, so the module also serves as an output stage. There are no knobs: the gain steps are fixed.
