The sE Electronics V7 ENG is a handheld supercardioid dynamic microphone for broadcast, electronic news gathering and field production. It uses the same capsule as the standard V7 in a longer body, which leaves space on the handle for a station identifier or mic flag. It suits reporters, broadcasters and podcasters who need clear speech in uncontrolled environments.
-
DMC7 dynamic capsule: supercardioid pattern with an aluminium voice coil and neodymium magnet, designed to reject off-axis sound and give high gain before feedback
-
Extended handle: 250 mm long, with room for a news cube or broadcast flag
-
Integrated shockmount: sE's patented internal suspension isolates the capsule to reduce handling noise, footfall and rumble
-
Wind and plosive protection: internal windscreen plus a black external windscreen
-
Robust construction: zinc alloy body, spring-steel mesh grille and a bevelled edge that stops the mic rolling when set down
- Gold-plated XLR connector
For field and broadcast work, the supercardioid pattern helps keep the voice in front of the mic while reducing background noise, and sE describes the capsule as delivering high speech intelligibility. Combined with the internal shockmount and the double windscreen arrangement, the V7 ENG is set up for handheld interviews and outdoor reporting where handling noise, wind and plosives are common problems.
