The Strymon PCH X1 is a mono active DI box and line isolator. It runs on 48V phantom power and uses a custom output transformer for galvanic isolation. It converts an unbalanced instrument or line source into a balanced, low-impedance signal for a mixer or preamp. Guitarists, bassists, keyboard players and anyone running an amp/cab simulator, modeler or laptop on stage or in the studio can use it.
-
Phantom powered: runs on 48V phantom power from the desk, with an LED that shows when power is present
-
Transformer isolation: a custom audio transformer on the output removes most ground loops
-
Buffered high-impedance input: a mono 1/4" input feeds an active, balanced XLR output
-
Passive thru: an unbuffered 1/4" thru sends the input on to an amp, pedal or stage monitor, separate from the XLR feed
-
Three-position high-pass filter: off, 80Hz to tame rumble, or 240Hz to clear more low end in a busy mix
-
Ground lift switch for the XLR output
The PCH X1 has a flat frequency response, within 0.5dB from 10Hz to 80kHz, so it passes the source through without colouring the tone. Strymon's setup examples cover live guitar and bass, live acoustic, live laptop rigs and recording guitar or bass. The housing is extruded aluminium, 3mm thick, and the unit is designed and built in the USA. If you need two channels, the PCH X2 puts two X1 circuits in one enclosure.
