The DMNO ON is the keyboard-less desktop version of UDO Audio's DMNO. It keeps the full 8-voice, 2-part multitimbral engine: two independent analog-hybrid synths, DMNO 1 and DMNO 2, in a compact box that can sit on a desk or mount on a monitor arm. It suits players who want the DMNO sound driven from an existing controller or a DAW setup.
-
8 voices, 2 parts: 8-voice polyphony, or 4 Binaural voices where left and right channels each get a full voice that can be detuned and offset
-
FPGA super-waveform oscillators: two per part, each with a centre oscillator plus six sister oscillators spread across the stereo field, and user-updatable complex waveforms
-
Analog stereo multi-core filter: parallel, series or stereo modes with low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, all-pass and phase shifter responses, plus overdrive
-
Eight Play Modes: Single, Dual, Split, One-Two, Rotate, Random, Chaos and Cascade for combining the two parts
-
Studio and modular I/O: 24-bit 2-in/2-out USB audio, stereo external input with envelope follower, assignable aux output, two CV and two gate/clock outputs
-
Expandable ON system: optional ONM expanders connect by a locking D-Sub cable and draw no extra power
The base unit has a single set of synth controls, while a vacuum fluorescent display with dedicated encoders handles deeper functions such as the mod matrix, LFO 2 and the 64-step sequencer, without deep menu layers. The optional ONM-1 Synth Control adds a second control set so both parts can be edited at once, much like the dual panel on the keyboard DMNO. An ONM-2 FX Control for the effects and EQ has been announced as coming later. Expanders are sold separately.
Modulation is extensive: LFO 1 runs from below 0.1 Hz to above 10 kHz with keyboard tracking for FM-style tones, three envelopes include looping and always-on modes for drones, and the mod matrix works above audio rate. Cascade mode feeds DMNO 1 into DMNO 2's oscillator mixer as a complex oscillator source, and the external input lets you process other sound sources through the filters and effects.
Each part has its own 32-bit effects chain with delay, reverb, distortion, chorus and EQ, and the unit stores 256 performances and 256 single patches. VESA mounting points and flip-up rear feet round out the desktop design.
